I began my tenure at LinkedIn leading design for LinkedIn Lookup, a startup team. I went on to lead design on another standalone application called LinkedIn Elevate. My team was then brought over to the main LinkedIn application to redesign and relaunch LinkedIn Pages.

I first focused on leading design for the member experience on LinkedIn Pages. I then created a new product called My Company, which tied into some of the employee based startup work I was doing with Lookup and Elevate. I closed my time at LinkedIn leading design for the admin experience on Pages, where I was able to redesign and relaunch the admin experience.

While at LinkedIn I was also able to cofound an employee resource group supporting designers of color and the broader community called Black by Design.

I led design for the consumer user experience for discovery, search and social on web and mobile. We were able to redesign and launch the main consumer iOS and Android apps. I was also able to lead design around a number of efforts to rethink how people attending events could experience using our product.

We created a separate new product development group, where we tried new event attendee strategies and even launched a separate application called Rally.

User Experience Designer
Netflix

I led design for search on web and Playstation, our largest platforms at the time. This was early in Netflix as a streaming platform so we were able to experiment with novel ways of showing results for content that was not available, and finding other ways to encourage members to find the right content to stream.

I then moved onto designing social experiences, and worked on the first Facebook integration for any stream experience. This involved designing cross platform for web, mobile and tv.

Interaction Designer
Yahoo!
May 2010 - Sep 2010 · 5 mos
Sunnyvale, CA

I led design of an augmented reality local search application for iOS while at Yahoo. I worked as a graduate intern with the AdUX team and Yahoo Research and was given the ability to conceive, design and prototype this product with an iOS engineer.

It was called Yahoo ShowMe, and it would connect users to local products, friends, places and offers nearby using a map or augmented reality cards projected over the camera. It was used by the Chief Product Officer at the time to pitch Yahoo advertisers on the future of the technology.

At Penn I had a real interest in Social and Cognitive Psychology, and while there I ended up studying in the lab of a professor who focused on Computer Mediated Communication. The subject matter interested me so much it led me to the field of User Experience Design.
